Based on several short stories written by the master of macabre, Edgar Allan Poe, The Pit and the Pendulum features Lance Henriksen as Grand Inquisitor Torquemada. Set in Spain during the bloody reign of the Spanish Inquisition, this dramatic horror film contrasts the physical torture of the prisoners with the internal torture ravaging the soul of Torquemada on his descent into a personal Hell. The film was shot in an actual Italian castle and directed by legendary filmmaker Stuart Gordon.
