The stunning Laura Gemser (EMANUELLE IN AMERICA, EMANUELLE AND THE WHITE SLAVE TRADE) returns to the character that has defined her career in this lush erotic drama.
EMANUELLE: BLACK VELVET (aka BLACK EMMANUELLE, WHITE EMMANUELLE and VELUTTO NERO) sees Gemser playing an incarnation of the famous globe-trotting model/reporter (here inexplicably referred to as just "Laura") as she travels to the sweltering deserts of Egypt with her macho fashion photographer boyfriend Carlo (Gabrielle Tinti, LISA AND THE DEVIL). Initially planning to simply visit her wealthy friend Crystal (Nieves Navarro, DEATH WALKS AT MIDNIGHT), the depressed damsel soon finds herself falling into a series of increasingly sensual encounters, while fixing her lustful attentions on Crystal's comely daughter Pia (Annie Belle, LIPS OF BLOOD and HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK).
Sexually charged, beautifully photographed (by Gastone di Giovanni, THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE), edited by the notorious Bruno Mattei (HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD) and almost entirely free of conventional narrative trappings, EMANUELLE: BLACK VELVET is the directorial work of frequent Federico Fellini co-writer Brunello Rondi (8 1/2, LA DOLCE VITA) and also stars Italian exploitation legend Al Cliver (Lucio Fulci's ZOMBIE).
